Quarrying started at the Balclutha site in the 2000's and is now producing around 150,000 tonnes per year. Products range from general AP materials, M4 roadbases, concrete aggregates, sealing chips and railway ballast.

Geology


The resource material consists of Greywacke/Indurated Sandstone type rock. The formation follows the general ground contours of the land

Quarrying


Rock is won by our internal drill and blast team. A 30 tonne excavator is used to load a 10 cubic metre rock truck to transport rock to the mobile jaw, cone and barmac crushers also a permanent chip screening and wash plant. The quarry has decades of resource available for the long term
